فَأَصْبَحَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ خَآئِفًۭا يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ ۚ قَالَ لَهُۥ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّكَ لَغَوِىٌّۭ مُّبِينٌۭ ١٨
And morning found him in the city, fearing, vigilant, when behold! he who had appealed to him the day before cried out to him for help. Moses said unto him: Lo! thou art indeed a mere hothead.
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."
The next morning he proceeded to the city in fear and looking around as one apprehensive of danger when all of a sudden, the man who had sought his help the day before again called out to him for his help. Moses said to him: "Clearly, you are a very misguided fellow."
يَقُولُ تَعَالَى مُخْبِرًا عَنْ مُوسَى، عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ [[في ت: "صلى الله عليه وسلم".]] ، لَمَّا قَتَلَ ذَلِكَ الْقِبْطِيَّ: إِنَّهُ أَصْبَحَ ﴿فِي الْمَدِينَةِ خَائِفًا﴾ أَيْ: مِنْ مَعَرّة مَا فَعَلَ، ﴿يَتَرَقَّبُ﴾ أَيْ: يَتَلَفَّتُ وَيَتَوَقَّعُ [[في هـ، ت: "أي يتقلب أي يتوقع" والمثبت من ف، أ.]] مَا يَكُونُ مِنْ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ، فَمَرَّ فِي بَعْضِ الطُّرُقِ، فَإِذَا ذَاكَ [[في ت، ف: "ذلك".]] الَّذِي اسْتَنْصَرَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْقِبْطِيِّ يُقَاتِلُ آخَرَ، فَلَمَّا مَرَّ مُوسَى، اسْتَصْرَخَهُ عَلَى الْآخَرِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى: ﴿إِنَّكَ لَغَوِيٌّ مُبِينٌ﴾ أَيْ: ظَاهِرُ الْغَوَايَةِ كَثِيرُ الشَّرِّ. ثُمَّ عَزَمَ عَلَى الْبَطْشِ بِذَلِكَ الْقِبْطِيِّ، فَاعْتَقَدَ الْإِسْرَائِيلِيُّ لخوَرِه وَضَعْفِهِ وَذِلَّتِهِ أَنَّ مُوسَى إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ قَصْدَهُ لَمَّا سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ يَدْفَعُ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ: ﴿يَا مُوسَى أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تَقْتُلَنِي كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا بِالأمْسِ﴾ وَذَلِكَ لِأَنَّهُ لم يَعْلَمْ بِهِ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمُوسَى، عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهَا ذَلِكَ الْقِبْطِيُّ لقَفَها مِنْ فَمِهِ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ بِهَا إِلَى بَابِ فِرْعَوْنَ فَأَلْقَاهَا عِنْدَهُ، فَعَلِمَ بِذَلِكَ، فَاشْتَدَّ حَنَقُهُ، وَعَزَمَ عَلَى قَتْلِ مُوسَى، فَطَلَبُوهُ فَبَعَثُوا وَرَاءَهُ لِيُحْضِرُوهُ لِذَلِكَ.

Summary
The Surah takes its name from verse 25 in which the word Al-Qasas occurs. Lexically, qasas means to relate events in their proper sequence. Thus, from the viewpoint of the meaning too, this word can be a suitable title for this Surah, for in it the detailed story of the Prophet Moses has been related.
